Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas November 16, 2017.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/640 sec at f/7.1, ISO 500.

Crested Caracara's plumage always looks the same because they do not molt like a typical bird.  Caracaras molt one feather at a time, as you can see in this image.

Excellent presentation and interesting lesson in this species molting behavior. The bird looks to have a a bit of a "superior" expression. I think it is well deserved as it is a beautiful bird.
