Since I'm posting for the first time in years, I pulled up an all-time favorite from a south Texas workshop in 2012, with Alan Murphy and Greg Downing.  You may note the absence of the classic AM perch in this one - this was just a spot to one side of the water hole, which had fallen into late-afternoon shadow.  I had to really lean and turn the lens to capture this when I saw the bird land.  Got off one shot before he took off.

Hi, Lillian, welcome back to NSN. What a wonderful image to open with. This one has it all. The pose, lighting, behavior, detail, and reflection are all excellent. Good find at the water hole, and nicely executed before the cardinal departed.

Exquisite subject and intimate feel to the image. Consider leveling the ripple line, which will also allow for the reflected cardinal to line up better with the bird...image is tilted to the left too much as is.

Lillian, This image was taken at the Horned Frog Pond, which is morning blind. I like the colors throughout very much. It has almost a mystic effect. Congrats.
