Bonaparte's Gull.

Looks like a Juvenile Bonaparte's Gull but the dark edges from the trailing edge of the wings and the tip of the tail are missing, that confuses me.

Checked SEABIRDS Identification Guide , by Peter Harrison. Plate 63, Resembles Adult Non Breeding but without the definite black wing tips, Probably in moult.

Nice flight shot Karl.

Yes Karl this is a non breeding Bonaparte's gull. It is in heavy molt and the last primaries have still yet to be dropped, those are the long ones at the end and those are the last to drop. The secondaries have already grown in and now the primaries are coming in after. Same with the tail feathers, starts molting from the outside and works to the Center. Nice capture but the IQ is a little off and not up to your normal standards.
