I've been spending quite a bit of time chasing the migrating shorebirds along the rocky shelf at La Jolla. This bird ran by me and turned long enough for me to get one full body shot before it flew away. Unfortunately I was not stopped down enough to get most of the back half of the body and tail in focus so I decided to do an extreme crop (this is about 1/3 of the frame). Taken on 8-10-03.

I was just going to say that I wish you had stopped down a bit but you already self critiqued that. Other than that, this is right on the money!

I agree that more DOF would have helped, but also a touch more USM. Otherwise a fine shot!

Very nice, Mike. I agree with Greg about a touch more USM.

Nice light and BG Mike! I also think a little more USM would really help.

I like the crop that you used on this one. The repost does look sharper. Very nice photo!
