Gouldian Finch

When I tell people I live in Australia, a very common questions is whether I have photographed Gouldian Finches before. So far I always had to say no, but that luck changed two weeks ago :)

Towards the end of the dry season in northern Australia, these guys start to flock up and come to the last remaining water holes in almost dry river beds. So with a bit of luck you can set up at the edge of a water hole and have some of the finches come in :)

Wow! What a beautiful specimen. In the american pet trade industry, although they were captive breed, these were always a true prize to have and enjoy. Incredible colors and you captured him beautifully. You might want to print that one!!
