Ringed Kingfisher - The Pantanal, Brazil
D500, 500mm, 1.4x, ISO 500, f/7.1, 1/250s
In North America I have found Kingfisher species very difficult to get close to.  In Brazil it was ridiculously easy.  I saw this guy occasionally perching at the edge of a railing so I set my camera up early one morning in the Pantanal.  The bird hadn't come back when it was time for breakfast and I went inside and started eating when he returned.  I casually walked out to my camera and took this photo - this is uncropped.  It's a Ringed Kingfisher...

Amazing capture. You correct about Belted Kingfishers in North America....very shy birds. Very difficult to get close. I can only dream to get this close.
Well done
