Photographed at Nickerson Beach on Long Island last night before sunset. I was surprised to see that these Terns had two very small chicks. The other one is even smaller.

Love this one Axel. The low shooting angle, soft light and head angles make it special.

Content, quality, detail, light and everything else, superb!

You just keep raising the bar Axel - and you started on a high, so pretty soon it will be out of sight. Love it!

Great shot Axel.
Seemed like the number of birds is down this year.

The mother bird appears proud of the youngster. Photographic excellence.

Thanks, Stan! The Common and Least Terns have been doing well this year as far as I can tell. I'm not sure if there are fewer Oystercatchers and Skimmers but it looks as if the number of Skimmer chicks is lower. It's hard to tell because they are relatively far away.

Beautiful intimate scene, enhanced by great POV and lovely light. These chicks do seem late. Earlier this week many Tern chicks had grown quite large.
