Redstarts are relatively rare out here in WA.  I have found some in a spot that is reliable for them and Bob/RLK and I went and shot them the other day.  However, our Redstarts live in a dark jungle with no light.  We couldn't get them on a perch despite our attempts to try.  This was a natural perch he chose an I did not like the ugly perch, but I loved how I found a snail in the photo when I got home to process the photo.  I liked the uniqueness of the image for that reason.

In most cases a delicate interesting perch might desired but I like the scene as it is, mostly
because it is different. Nice work.

Very nice shot. The snail add nice mood to the image. I know how tough it is to shoot in our woods around here.
I am considering getting a nice flash for just that purpose.
