I called it Tern as I couldn't had figured out as to the species.
Unlike Common or Forster's Terns, the beak and legs are black.
Ken Kaufman or Sibley guides won't give me the answer.
Thanks for looking.

Nice shot, Karl. Good light and wing position. It's a mystery to me; I hope someone can ID it. Bill too thin for a gull-billed, and I don't know anything else with black legs and bill and complete black cap.

AMAZING, the light, the composition, so sharp and the soft light makes this an outstanding shot!!!

Lovely tern. Sweet light and a low key sky bg. Well done.

Nice wing spread, I like the orange glow from the sun reflected on wings, at least appears to be.

Hey Karl,

I guess you saw that the legs were dark when it was at rest or dangling them?

Plumage-wise it looks like a Common, was wondering if it could be a bird whose bill hasn't yet gone from black to red for breeding. Can almost make out a hint of red near the base.
