Shot this morning at nearby bay. This is first time I have seen Purple Martin. There were quite a few perched and flying around.
These are long distance migratory birds. They arrive here in the spring from South America's Amazon Basin and late summer they head back south...some serious distance. 1D4, EF300mm f/2.8L USM NON-IS 1/500, ISO-400, f/4.5 handheld...dark overcast.
