I really like this shot. I am always hoping to get similar shots myself. The presence of the open wings are the essence of flight and as such render a much truer feel of what being a bird means. For me I enjoy the take off shots much more that BIF's.
All else in your image is of a good standard and the overall narrative is well done.

Great shot, Jim.
I had it at Point Pelee  but all shots got deleted.
This bird is super fast while feeding and loves to be behind leaves and twigs. :(
