Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas this week.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1.4 TC, 1/1250 sec at f/6.3, ISO 640.

Audubon Oriole is a tropical species with a small overall range and is uncommon even in South Texas.  They tend to forage on the ground, so it's always a bonus to get them on a perch.

Perfectly-positioned in the branches. Great mouth-open pose, and very nice feather detail.
There is one odd little green area above the middle berry, and another to the right, that could be cloned out.
Really nice image!

Awesome Gene..
This was another species I wanted so so badly.. looking back now, I got nothing on my trip that I wanted or needed..
What about if I come in Late June when school lets out.. the hot days may bring in Buntings and this bird no? Is this bird common on the ranch?
thanks
James
