I love Potoos and Frogmouths, but they are nototiously hard to notice. Can you find this one ?
This was one of the most exceptional encounters of my recent trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. I am pretty sure that I would not have noticed him without my remarkable guide. The weather was not clement and appropriate for great photography, but I think that it ends up being a more interesting photo, because it demonstrates the ability of the bird.
Luis Ku (of Motmot birding), aka Luis La Legenda, is the most senior local guide and and has a fabulous personality. I highly recommend him.
This Northern Potoo was not alone.... I'll post a bonus photo shortly.

I love camouflaged birds, moths, grasshoppers, spiders, etc. This image is cool! Around here, I have almost stepped on nighthawks camouflaged on rocks on the ground. They blend in so well.
