Shot last Sunday. Here owl took a sharp turn in front of the dike covered with Blackberry bushes, which in this time  of  year has no leaves on them creating a nice dark background. Sun hit the wings just right when the owl was banking, making the turn.
I was testing out again with 2.0X TC paired with EF 300mm f/2.8L.
Shot with 1D4 and EF300mm f/2.8L USM NON-IS plus 2.0X TC II.
Aperture stopped down 3/4 stop to f/7.1 , 1/3200, ISO-1250 handheld.
Please click on the image for uncompressed image view, thank you.

Ludo, the darker BG really sets off those glowing wings, what a beautiful and articulate form it makes!  You've managed to show this species in so many different ways, from snow to sun, parked and flying, and different vantage points - been a joy to view.
