Shot from last Sunday. This owl was hunting for the voles almost 3 hours. Couldn't catch any. Grass lands are too wet almost swampy
forcing voles to move? I think. Usually this owl can catch several voles in a short time. I felt bad for this little guy. But on the bright side, it will move anytime now to breeding grounds.
It was getting really dark when I took this shot 1/80 sec on the tripod using 2.0X TC to get 600mm out of my EF300mm f/2.8.
I closed the aperture one stop to f/7.1.
1D4, EF300mm f/2.8 plus 2.0X TC II
1/80, ISO-1600, f/7.1

Ludo, really cool perch and pose, and since he/she's not in the grass, we get to see those interesting talons - never realized they have such nice warm leg warmers.

Great to have this species off the ground and good-looking specimen.
