I was lucky to visit Santee Lakes in San Diego County for the first time last month. Managed a few quick shoots & was quite happy to improve on my Ring-necked Duck collection - including this male. I did a quick write-up on my (limited) experiences at this site regarding bird photography, which can be viewed here for those interested:

Brandon, long time no see!  Beautiful pose, colors and eye-level POV.  Did great capturing the purple on head and the ring on neck.  Was really interesting to read your take on the area, enjoyed hearing about your thought processes/approach to photography - TFS.

Thanks everyone - it was my first photography-specific trip in some time, so I felt compelled to share a few images :)

Nice clean shot of a handsome duck. Not sure on the comp here as the bird seems very central and low in the frame to me. Would prefer a more balanced image with maybe a tad more foreground and less above the bird. A little room for the bird to 'move' toward on the right would improve this image in my opinion. Cheers
Thanks for looking,
