Taken in  Northern India, a few years ago.... His mate was watching him clean up: they roll over in the sand to get rid of parasites I suppose.... this was taken while he was taking a break from the process.
I should be posting more regularly, but when I get to it, i end up spending so much time enjoying your photos, that I end up postponing every time.
Best, ugolino

Ugolino, great to get the attentive pause, love the fluffed out feathers - the better to get their skin "washed."  I enjoyed the explanation of them taking a sand bath, and you captured that behavior beautifully!

Nice story to go with the lovely image. Like those open feathers and the eye contact. Details look good when you click
on the image.
