From my recent trip to Florida.
This is either a juvenile molting into adult plumage or an adult molting into breeding plumage. These birds have the most incredibly large feet and long toes, an adaptation for walking on floating vegetation and climbing about on reeds. I had hoped to get a flight shot of a breeding plumage adult but had to settle for this. Still happy to get it regardless. *Please click for uncompressed view Canon 7D2, 500mm f4L IS II, ISO 1000, f/6.3, 1/2000 sec, manual exposure, hand held Bob Kothenbeutel
