Gorgeous bird in a great habitat shot. Perfectly exposed.

Boyd, lovely bird, beautifully captured - very nice pose and a sweet, natural-looking perch.

Very cool species, pose, and natural surrounding. Is this a substantial crop? The reason i ask is because of the noise i see in the bg. 800 iso on the D500 is actually not that bad, but this is showing a very grainy appearance? Perhaps some sharpening was applied over the whole image? I think if you were a tad more selective with some of these adjustments this image would really pop. Separating the subject from the BG and applying the appropriate sharpening and noise reduction independently. Cheers
Thanks for looking,

Excellent exposure of a wonderful looking bird. I agree with the comment above. I always only apply sharpening buy brushing it in on the bird. I often will run noise reduction on a layer then erase the bird so it is not applied to the main subject. Sharpening applied as I mentioned above to the bird only. This may clean up the background a bit. Still a good image as is.

The Hooded Oriole is a cool bird to see and to take picture. Yours  is perfect with perfect exposure. The habitat is very good and I don't see any noises.

I love everything about this, particularly the in focus perch that matches the bg of the mostly oof vegetation.
