Here is a another frame of a Northern Pygmy Owl who became quite consistent with his hunting patterns, allowing me to position myself in a favourable location before he even got there. This ones a little bit different showing his wee belly and talons. While I was out shooting this pair who were hunting naturally, i had one land a meter from me at eye level. It was the trippiest thing to see one that close, and realize just how tiny these guys are.

Mike, love the angular swagger, he posed like a little rock star for you :)  Great to see the clutching talons and the BG is really sweet - beautiful capture.
I know what you mean about how tiny some species are - had that realization with Burrowing Owls - we're constantly looking at them greatly magnified, and when you see them up close with the naked eye, it's like wow! they're tiny.
