OTHER NAMES: Plain Laughingthrush, Plain-coloured Laughingthrush
TAXONOMY: Tr[ochalopteron]. subunicolor Blyth, 1843, Nepal.
Three subspecies recognized. The nominated race T. s. subunicolor Blyth, 1843 occurs in from C Nepal E to Bhutan, NE India (Arunachal Pradesh) and adjacent S China.
Status: Least Concern 
Size 25 cm,Sexes alike . 
HABITAT AND BEHAVIOUR: Altitude range 2000-3400 meters: wintering around 2000 meters. Inhabits temperate broad-leaved forest to sub-alpine forest; prefers thick undergrowth, secondary growth, dwarf rhododendron, bamboo. Omnivorous but chiefly insects also berries, leaves and flowers of Rhododendron. Found in pairs, or in parties of up to ten outside breeding season; forages on or near ground. Very shy and skulking in nature.
