Took a quick trip down to a local urban pond this afternoon. Didn't really expect to find much but this breeding Ruddy Duck was a nice surprise! He gave me a quick hit of action before going to sleep for the next 30 mins.

I had just switched 2x for 1.4x and didn't double ISO accordingly. Had I done that the wings would be a bit crisper, but I kinda like the blur as they are.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers

Very cool to get this handsome "Blue bill" with a nice pose and great complementary colors. Nice low shooting angel and I like the comp you chose.

Have a great trip and Look me up when you get back!

Very nice Dorian. I can't recall seeing many images of this species doing the 'wing flap' so congrats on catching this behaviour so nicely here.
Thanks for looking,

On my monitor, the massive blown highlight is a distraction from all the wonderfulness. Maybe it could be toned down.

Ruddy ducks are incredibly beautiful in their breeding colors. Love the wing flap and what almost looks like a sly smirk from him. Beautiful image......and a duck in breeding plumage that I so long to see. Well done.

Nicely done. The slight wing blur doesn't bother me.
