It took me about ten years but finally I got it.
Birders would mistakenly identify this species and I would rush to see them just to find out that they were subspecies of the Canada Goose, called Richardson subspecies. Smaller, but not small enough to be a Cackling Goose.
Finally the wild Goose chase has ended. :D
Thanks for looking.

Karl, congrats on finally fulfilling the end to your wild Goose chase :), culminating in a lovely two-fer in-flight with delicate tones throughout.  Great with the similar, staggered poses captured.

Wow, so cool that you captured both species in focus in a single frame. I was walking around my neighborhood pond a few years ago and was stopped by some fellow walkers who asked if I had seen the baby Canada geese. It was February and well before nesting. When I got around the lake to where the geese were gathered, I found a single cackler mixed in with a flock of greaters. Baby geese indeed.

You couldn't ask for a better shot of this species showing it next to the Canada, and it's all wrapped up in a beautiful detailed frame.
Well done
