Australasian Figbird Sphecotheres vieilloti
Haven't shot many birds lately, been too busy getting underwater with my camera. Last Sat was about 44°C outside and lots of birds coming into the bird bath, all obviously hot and stressed. I setup the sprinkler next to the bird bath and soon this guy was getting wet and the legs/facial skin paler, quite a few birds just sat on branches under the sprinkler cooling off. Lest it on till the Southerly hit. First time I've seen a figbird in the yard. Larger Image: Figbird Canon 1DIV + 500mm f4 + 1.4x + 580EXII @ -1. 1/160 @ f9 ISO400 Chris Ross
