Pryer's Woodpecker: critically endangered

Also known as Okinawa Woodpecker, it is endemic to this small island, and furthermore, restricted to a small site in the north of the island, the Yanbaru Forest.
The extant population is estimated to be less than 600, and major development projects are further threatening this species, already considered as "critically endangered".
This is the male, with a red crown.
Sad.... what a beautiful bird !

It appears to me that a vertical crop would be a better option for the reason, that the tree trunk won't overpower this beautiful bird and the bird would be larger in the frame. It might be worth a try. Otherwise nice colorful background and nice looking bird.
