Hi guys,

almost too late, but Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a great start to the year. Here in Melbourne summer is in full swing with temperatures close to 100 :)
Not the greatest weather for bird photography, but I still managed to get a few shots the last few weeks.

Previously I had only seen this species once, but a few weeks ago I stumbled upon a pair setting up territory near my house. These guys are only summer migrants to my area.

I found this flowering perch a day before the shoot and knew the moment I saw it that I really wanted to try to get an oriole onto it.
I did not know whether I had any chance to get a shot, but I tried and the bird gave me a few frames :)

I tried to give this image a bit more punch and to keep it a it darker...

Splendid work, Jan, per usual. Interesting bird - I'd like to see its breast as well.

Best,

Matt

A classic Wegener! Colors, background, pose, and did I mention the colors? I think the color is your signature.

Fantastic details, pose, and colors. I love how the flowers on the perch compliment the bird's eye and bill.
