We were very fortunate to have this beautiful female Belted Kingfisher hanging out in a local pond last year. She was about as cooperative as a Kingfisher could be, especially shooting her without a blind. Actually the truck was my blind and she let me drive within a nice close distance as she avidly hunted dragonfly nymphs. There weren't any fish in the pond so getting this bird with a nice fish in it's beak wasn't in the cards but I did get some nice perched and flight shots.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input.  I appreciate it.

A fine flight image of a difficult species. Good detail and a nice background. Love the wing position.

David, Not an easy shot to get. Have you thought about getting a casting net, and catching some minnows from another pond and relocate the minnows to this pond. Typically the minnows will thrive and it might persuade the Kingfisher to stick around?

Thanks again everyone.

Thanks Gene, great idea!! I think it would work perfect and as you said, probably get her to stick around longer.
She hasn't shown up yet this year but I will try to get my ducks in a row before she does.

Thanks
