Every year thousands of Southern Carmine Bee Eaters head south from central Africa to their breeding colonies on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Caprivi Strip of Namibia where they spend several weeks raising their chicks before spreading out over Southern Africa for the summer.

Amazing species and pose, but what really makes it for me is how the bird's colors are integrated into the background because of the out of focus birds there, which also adds depth. Nicely done.

This is indeed a beautiful shot, nice timing on catching the action. The nice light and the red color spread throughout
the frame makes this very special.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. This was difficult given the large number of birds present and the need to not encroach on the nesting areas so I was very pleased that out of the thousands of pictures take there were some successful ones!
