Serge, I understand your pain. With good light--the set-up, comp, background, prey--everything would have been about perfect.

Great look back, comp and background color. Bird and perch are under exposed on my screen.

Great perch, pose, and composition.Crazy looking fish too. As you've pointed out the difference in exposure between your BG(still in the sun)and the shaded subject was just too many stops difference to be able to expose this one equally. Flash would have been the answer in this situation. Some people don't go there and i respect their decision. I think you could probably still pull some more details out of the 'blacks' in P.S. This is why i love shooting these types of images on overcast days.
Thanks for looking,

Nice setup and great choice of perch. The guys are difficult to expose for.

Nice catch and eye contact. As already mentioned the exposure is off here. The metering was fooled by the bright
background leaving the bird under exposed. In these situations fill flash works well.

As Gaurav mentioned, fill flash would be a great help in these kind of situations.

I love it!  Looks like there's a little "by catch".  Nice composition, maybe a little fill in the shadows?

Salut Serge!

The underexposed picture problem here can be fixed in PS either by using S&H or by applying a mask on the bird and the perch, or by uplifting the curves. Give it a try ...or call me up! ;)
