This is our only Swallow species in NZ. They are almost identical to the Barn swallows in NA. We have a local waste water treatment plant that attracts thousands of these guys each winter. They are hawking for insects on the waters surface. I was using my D500 on the 'group 25' setting while hand holding with my 600mm. I was surprised at the number of sharp images and am very pleased with the AF on this body. Getting a whole bird in frame and a desirable wing position is another story with these speedsters.
