This image portrays the Male Belted Kingfisher offering his catch to his mate perched above. The male is attempting to pass the fish to her, this behavior signifies that the nest building is complete. If she accepts then the courtship will commence.
Taken with a Nikon D800e, Nikkor 300 2.8, TC 1.7.

Robert, Agee--another excellent shot. And to think that after all this time, I didn't know all that I needed was a fish!

Another great addition to your series of kingfisher images. I like your explanation as i think it helps to strengthen the image by describing exactly whats occurring. The 'set up' or where your blind is situated is giving some ideal opportunities that are not just apparent in the images but when looking at the tech's. Nice BG'S at F9, low ISO, and still sufficient shutter speeds. Nice work.
Thanks for looking,

If anyone offered me a wet fish I'd tell him what to do with it!   :D

Superb shot Rob.  You can see he is so full of himself - and anticipation.  What a great behaviour capture and sharp as a tack.
