Coopers hawk - vertical dive

I was lucky to catch this juvenile Coopers hawk as it dived straight down from its perch. This was shot from my deck. I stayed on the bird while it was perched and just fired a burst any time it hinted at moving. Not sure what it was after as it disappeared in the foliage below.

Canon 1DX 2, 500mm f4L IS II, ISO 1600, f 8, 1/1250 sec, manual exposure, hand held

What a great catch, especially with the body framed in the pine bows.

Excellent timing on this diving shot. Good that you got one where you were able to keep the bird from merging into the
green leaves and cones in the background. A nice vertical composition.
