Here's another from SE Arizona, we found a pond with large numbers of this species hawking over it and spent some time working on flight shots with them.

Wow. Sharp as a tack, and that beautiful water bird bg behind this landlubber adds huge interest and puts this a cut way above.

We don't get many shots of these in flight Nate! Great catch - and great shot!

Great bird to catch in flight Nate. I really like the water as the BG as well.
Thanks for looking,

This is really sweet! A perfect shot of this species. I'm headed to SE AZ next week. Any tips you can share on these or anything else? I'll be birding all the usual spots, Huachucas, Santa Ritas/Madera, Patagonia, Tucson, maybe the Chiricahuas as well.

Beautiful top side image Nate and with it over the water you really get a good look at all the feather detail and markings.

Not an easy bird to catch in flight so great job getting him. The pose is perfect along with the head angle. Very nice frame Nate

Nate, wow, impressive topside view with excellent wing symmetry and head angle.  Wonderful with the water BG and the vertical presentation works great here - love it!
