Cracking! I have still yet to manage a sharp flight shot of this species. It's nice to know it can be done! Great DOF for f/4....

I really don't know how you get these shots...tried many times, but can't even keep them in the viewfinder hahaha.

Denis, Getting this shot is impressive. Getting this shot while hand-holding a 500mm lens is very impressive.

Thanks for the comments,folks!
It,s really all about studying them for awhile,and trying to recognize a feeding pattern.In this case,they were feeding on emerging midges over the water,and flying into a fairly strong wind,so slowing them down a bit,which made it a little easier to track,at least with the 1dmk1v.wasn,t impressed with the keeper rate of the 7dmk11!
