I was actually just going for a portrait of the female in nice light when this happened. And then it happened again, and again. This pair nested in the bluebird box in my backyard this summer.

Canon 10d, 400mm 2.8IS, 2x, ISO400, 1/320sec, f8, Wimberley head, from a blind.

Nice shot! Perfect amount of wing blur IMO and nice perch and background too.

I like it a lot - the wing spread with mothion is great - the background is very nice.

Steve, 1 - 2 - 3 !!! Great opportunity and you nailed it. I'd only crop a tad from the right.

Female by itself would have been nice, but this is excellent. Only question: what it the little thing just below the male's beak?

Steve,

I really like the way the outstretched wings blend into the beautiful background. Lovely image!

Beautiful wing spread and looks like they are 'kissing' ( ok, maybe not) - but lovely behavior image. :)
