The last couple of weeks the mornings along the coast have been dark and gloomy with the sun not breaking through until mid day. This image dates back about three weeks. I don't mind using the flash but true unobscured early morning light is hard to beat.

Neil -

Nice winter plumage leasty. The bird stands out well from the blue-ish BG.

Very nice.

Excellent, Neil. Very sharp because the entire bird seems to be in the plane of the camera.

Neil,

Boy, this is good. I think some off the top makes it stronger.

Hi Neil, I like this one a lot, and why the heck not? The techs are perfect, the light is sweet, and, it's a sandpiper! I agree with Alan; cropping a bit from the top to just below your name tightens the composition up a bit. Best, Artie

Very cool! I like being able to see the whole feet and also the repeating pattern of pools on the right side of the image.

Neil- It has been rather gray lately hasn't it. I have been practicing alot with flash and learning some new things. It sure can't beat some sweet sunlight though no matter how hard you try to make it look natural. Nice looking bird.

Interesting cratered background. I really like the detail on the bird.
