I know this is not the greatest photo to post here but I kind of like it and I like the fact that one can see here why they call them ring-necked ducks. Captured at either Bosque del Apache or Crex Meadows, Wisconsin, I can't seem to remember which (we encountered them in both places). Regardless of where it is, Canon Eos 1V, Canon 400/2.8 plus 2.0 TC. Fuji P100F at 100, aperture and speed not recorded. On a bean bag out the RV window. Thanks for viewing; all input "most welcome" (watched an old Charlie Chan movie the other night).
Image
Forgot: Cropped moderately on top, right, and bottom.

Joesph:

This is the best view of the ring I have ever seen. I have never seen the ring in the field.

I've never seen a Ring-neck at Bosque so its probaly the latter. Yes this illustrates the ring well.

Joseph,

I'm with you on this one. The ring on the neck makes this image special.

It's good to get a pair like this and I, too, have not seen the ring quite that clearly. We get a lot of this species in the fall and spring. Might try to put back some more room on the right, if that's possible and add a little more USM. :)

Seeing the ring is a real treat. I also like that you've captured the pair here. As always Juli has excellent suggestions.. :)

Joesph:

It takes great light for the ring to make an appearance, you certainly had it here. Great job.

Joseph,

The ring necks show up well in this image! Very good detail and opportunity to compare the pair with each other. Nicely captured!

Nicely exposed to bring out the ring. I agree with adding a bit of USM for this presentation. :)
