A fine shot, Steve. Exposure is on target in difficult lighting condition. The angle is somewhat steep, but that's no biggie.

Steve,

Welcome to NSN. Great first post, Looks like tough lighting conditions which you handled well. I might have given it a touch more flash as its a dark bird. The comp and detail are great. Look forward to more of your work.

Steve, great avatar. We will need you to repost it at 50 pixels on the longest side, as in the guidlines. Thanks.

I like the majestic pose. You handled the difficult light very well.

Nice shot!

Good job on the exposure getting all the subtleties in the blacks.

Very nice shot - it could probably be 1/3 stop darker.

Great first post and welcome to NSN. I hope to get even one decent image of a raven one day. Your image is very challenging because of the strong light---the branches are a bit overexposed but those could be darkened in an image editing program. I think it would also be possible to reduce the harsher light on the head.

You did well on the blacks. I haven't been able to get one to come out so nice. Next time, try and catch it when it's a little lower. :)
