One of my favorites from Galapagos. We were there a bit late in the breeding period, but there were still some males putting on a show for the ladies. I would have preferred a profile shot, which I have, but it also shows that his right eye is injured. (It's funny to see their sharply pointed beak just a fraction of an inch away from their fully inflated sac.) Cloned out two OOF sticks in upper left background.

10D, 100-400 at 310, 1/250 at f8, ISO 400. Cloudy day.

Rich, This lady is mighty impresed by his display!! Too bad about his injured eye, but my guess is he's managing to woo them anyhow!!! Adore your Galapagos images! Keep them coming!!

Rich,

This looks like it was tough to expose. The sticks and upper right of the throat sack look hot but the blacks look great. I think you left a little of the cloned stick hanging in the air :)

Great photo.

Pretty cool look at an unusual bird. I have only seen them as tiny specks far away in the Florida sky. Great capture!

Good job on handling the exposure well. I can see why a female would be impressed...I am :)

First, it's an incredible photo of the species' behavior! It appears slightly overexposed on my monitor as I look at the head and beak.
