I seldom take photos of domestic animals but this feral Graylag Goose got so close and so loud I had to "shoot" him. I think he was squawking for food as people feed the geese and ducks at this urban Denver area park. Mostly I was struck by the contrast between the color of the goose and it's orange bill and eye ring.

Lovely capture and great exposure to boot, a little of the weaved feather pattern so prominent on the Nene Geese neck is present as well, the serrated lip around his beak speaks volumes about his Jurassic lineage (As of yet unproven), Just wonderful, Congrats!!! 8)

Hey! I know that goose.

Great timing to get the open bill. I love it!

Excellent, Alan. I agree that the serrated orange bill and the orange eyering are great.

Alan,

Nice work. I love the color that is added to the image by the bill and eye ring.

You're right. I love the orange bill. Maybe it needs a little more room in front and a bit less in back but this still shows off the teeth very well. :D

Cool shot! I like the light on the bird here. Maybe putting a bit more room in front of it and eliminating the deep shadow on its back would strengthen it even more (or maybe not). Regardless, a fine image - great detail on the bird.

I like the gray on gray tones. It really accentuates the orange bill. I wouldn't want to get goosed by this. Those serrations look dangerous.
Very nice image.

Awesome behavioral portrait. Those serrated edges on the bill are nice. These guys are animated at times and a lot of fun to shoot and practice on.
