I don't think I saw anyone post a Green Heron head shot, so I'll give it a go. I don't usually use a 2X teleconverter, but I had the chance to spend quite a bit of time with this guy and was laying on my belly on the boardwalk with the tripod lowered all the way down. Just had to wait until the people were away to avoid the vibrations.

A very nice GH portrait, these are hard to get close to around hear. The BG compliments the birds colors.

Richard,

Very nice colors and comp. The detail and light is great. I wish he had turned more profile to the camera. This is such a beautiful bird and the photo is too.

You must have had one cooperative Green Heron. Around here I haven't even been able to get a good one as a "habitat" shot, much less a portrais. A nice pose and detail with an excellent BG. This is really great.

This is a great portrait of my favorite heron. I love the smooth green background and matching hues of the lores.

Beautiful! Great colors in both the bird and the background. I think this would be nice in a vertical format as well.

Nice job on this wary species. I don't recall seeing any closeups or portraits of a GH posted, nice work.
