The last three evenings have been extraordinary. I had with some friends the pleasure of photographing 60 plus egrets and numerous cormorants feeding like mad, a cooperative RTH, and even an immature eagle close to home :D I used many techniques including, pan blurs, fill w/rear sync, very high and low shutter speeds and more to be creative as possible, coming away with some of my best ever egret images. Experiment, push the envelope, and have fun, but most of all get out there

I leave for SD tomorrow morning, heading to MT directly thereafter, returning on 10/13. I will try to check in when time permits.

1D, 500mm
exposure- spot metered off bird while stationary in same light-plus one EV.
1/2500 @ 5.6, ISO 200 HP flash sync (no comp)

60+ egrets? Holy cow....you must have been in egret heaven. An excellent shot. You caught this one at just the perfect time. Always a treat to see what you've shot lately.

Excellent, Chas!
Timing is everything. You just caught its head slightly turned so it won't cast an ugly shadow of its bill on the neck ...
