This image was captured at a local park in Central Iowa. Loons are very rare in Iowa so it was a real treat to have this guy hangin out.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments!

The water drop is really cool! I like your comp here but might like to see the eye with a bit more detail. I have never been this close to a loon and would be very happy to have this shot!

Very nice photo! If I had one wish it would be for a catch light! The water drop is awesome!

Love that silver beak, color and texture, looks almost metallic - so different than the adults - and the single drop of water. Concur on a wish for more light in the eye.

The head seems a bit soft to me. (or maybe it's just too wet?) I think I'd like the bird slightly lower in the frame also. Still you got good eye detail and the drop is great! :D

Hey Scotto,

Some cropping off the bottom, sharpening on the bird and a catchlight would make this scream. The water drop makes this a special image.

Good job getting close and detail. Light was a little tough...

A nice shot but a catch light would really help this one a whole lot.

Scotto,

The drop of water falling from the silver beak adds so much beauty to this image! Very nice!

A very nice image although we would all like a catchlight. It makes it even sweeter knowing that it is uncommon where you live. The water droplet makes this one special.

I like the steel look of the bill and the water drop. The eye needs better light and or a catchlight. Nice shot!

Great shot, I love the water drop! I think a catch light would be nice, especially on such a big eye, to liven it up.

I wish I had I shot of a loon that close! Congrats!

The drop is way cool, but a bit more of sharpness and a catchlight in the eye would greatly improve this picture.
