American Golden Plover Pluvialis dominica

This was photographed in Conneaut, Ohio in late afternoon light about one hour before sunset. This is the same bird that Lana posted on Monday. She was nice enough to point me in the right direction to find this friendly Plover.

D30, 500mm f4 IS, EF 1.4xII, ISO 200, f8.0, 1/1000 (evalutive -2/3), with ballhead on ground pod. This is about 85% of the original frame.

Any comments are appreciated.

Oh yeah.....you nailed this guy. This is really good. I was hoping that the light was at a good angle for you with him. Absolutely gorgeous. I didn't get any good ones of him in the evening light. The light, exposure and detail are awesome. This is one of your best.

Gorgeous. If I wanted to be really fussy, I'd clone out the second catchlight.

This is an great shot although I might like it cropped just a tad bit tighter. I have still to make it the few short hours to Conneaut and I'm envious of all these great shots!

The second catch light looks like refection off the water. I'd love to see this one at full size, that eye looks great. Nicely done! :)

Sweet shot, wonderful background.. Its personal taste on the crop, for me I would tighten it up a little bit.. Nice one!

Bruce, lovely shot and excellent light. I'm also in the camp of cropping more closely.

Very beautiful image. I agree with some of the cropping suggestions to lose a little extra BG.

I love the colors and the open space around the bird. The light is wonderful as is the sharpness and detail.

Fantastic light and background! I might be tempted to clone out the second catchlight.
