Northern Shoveler Anas clypeata

This is the companion image to my previous post of a Northern Shoveler Hen. These ducks are in their eclipse plumage and are somewhat drab compared to what they will look like in a few months.

Taken at a local park in Lakewood, Colorado

EOS 10D, 600/4 IS, 1.4X EFII, Tripod
Eval @ -1, Av @ F8, SS 1/800, ISO 200

Comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking. :)

Beautiful text book image, Bill. I prefer a bit more room in front of the bird but nice as is.

Extremely well done. The light is great and the overall sharpness and detail of the bird are great too as is the water.

Very nice job with this one. I don't know about you, but the Northern Shoveler was the "only game" in town for me yesterday. You had excellent light and beautiful water. Great detail as well. Very nice.

Really nice light on this bird and he's well balanced in the frame. I like the way the light highlights his eye.

Very nice! Without that bill it would be hard to tell this was the same species of duck as one in breeding plumage. Looks like that new 10D is working pretty well for you.

Stunning shot Bill! Gorgeous detail and colours. You and Sherie are certainly getting the full benefit of your 10D's and producing excellent images.

Sorry I don't get over to Birds as often as I would like, but when I do - shots like this make it all worthwhile.

 8)
