Just another Great Egret shot I took last week. Thought you might want to see this rather unusual pose ... like a swimmer ready to take a start dive

EOS-10D, EF500/4L IS + EF1.4x
Incident @ -2/3, ISO 200

Very unusual pose and the space in the frame is filled perfectly.

Too cool! Hard to believe the egret could still strike from a pose like this without falling off his perch. Very nice!

8) no more to say, first time I have noticed an image with the head and body in different power points. Composition excellent.

Great shot KK. I particularly like the way you caught the legs with the constant space bewteen them. It looks strange, but in a good way :D

Interesting pose! Was this a stance or did you catch him at the end of a stretch?

Lillian,
I was waiting and anticipating him to take off. Instead, he stretched his neck to the full and in the course of doing so the wings were raised but never extended. Perhaps just to balance itself off with this act ... I got two shots in all with slight variation of the wings position!
