This shot of a Bay-Backed Shrike was taken in India. I was fortunate in that it established a territory which allowed for easy stalking. I got innumerable images over the next few days. This is one of the birds I’m hoping to be able to photograph again, on my planned return to India in the New Year.

Great to see your virtual self again!

Very nice - I really like the colors on the bird. Excellent detail throughout. The warm earth tones bring out the reddish tones on the bird very well.

Hey, Ray, great to have you on this site. You're one of the guys I've missed most.

This is one of the best posts of yours that I've seen. The whites may be hot in a few areas, but that does not diminish this wonderful image.

It appears to be about 1/3 over on the whites on my monitor, Ray. But, aside from that, I really like the colors and comp. What a nice colorful bird. Love the warm tones.

A beautiful bird! Whites are a bit hot but this appears to be good compromise to retain detail in the blacks. Nice to see you posting here.

Ray,

Sweet looking image! You know about the highlights, looks like a slight halo around the feet and back. I love the soft background really compliments the birds colors. Wonderful pose and a catch light to boot. Excellent image!
