Just back from a trip to Thailand. Here is a Blue Pitta (female). Wish the background where a bit better, but such is life.

The bg doesn't bother me a bit here.

This is a great looking bird, wonderful picture of it, Con.
As you mentioned the background, I would work on the bottom left corner just a little, to blend in the bright circular spot.
Then, you would have a great looking background.

This is a family that I need to get out to see some day. Such a cool looking little bird. This is really nice, good detail with the soft light, attractive perch and the bg is fine IMHO.

BG looks fine - indicitave of leaf litter - the only places i've ever seen pitta
