American Avocet
Packary Channel, Texas

Wandering around Texas we found some Avocets that weren't too shy. These birds are so beautiful!

Digital capture with Canon 1D, Canon 500 f/4 with 1.4x teleconverter, ground pod.

Comments appreciated!

Composition is really good here and the colors are so rich. I agree that these birds are beauts!

Heather
I'm really jealous of this one. I am so waiting to see my first avocet. When I went to shoot shorebirds last weekend one showed up.......right after I left to go home. Nice job with this one.

Beautiful shot, Heather. I love these birds so I'm biased towards them anyway. You're right, they are absolutely beautiful birds. I can just sit and watch them for hours.

Very nice!!

Oh so sweet, Heather. I'm a big fan of well-done, cut-wing shots and this is one of them. I particularly like the compo.
