Eastern Yellow Robin Eopsaltria australia

Taken at Kinglake NP, northwest of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on a pretty dark and dismal day out, this is one of my favorites.

EOS5, 300 f/4 IS, 1/30 @ f/4, fill -1 1/2, Provia 100F @ 320, pushed +2.

A cool bird, great perch and excellent background. it looks like the flash may have been a little close to the lens axis as there is a trace of steel eye - the silverish ring at the bottom of the iris.

EJ is right about the flash.....I know from experience. Still you have a very nice pose and a wonderful perch.

Welcome to NSN and I love this shot! The steel eye is a bother but nothing a high flash bracket wouldn't avoid in the future. Great color!

Yep, the flash is a problem for sure - my normal one decided to die, so was left using the on camera one on the EOS5 - not ideal to say the least :(.

Wonderful little morsel, lovely cantilever perch as well, exposure is a little over the top but not by much, still very nice Titanium Eye and all, A little more DOF would have been nice!! Congrats!!! 8)

Very nice image, Andrew. The BG and perch are excellent. I agree with the comments on the nickel-eye (the third metal introduced on this thread). I'd also like to see the bird a hair more to our left.

Very nice! Good to see our Aussie friends posting here too. I agree with Sandy about more room on the right side. Panning slightly to the right would help the composition.

Andrew,
Wonderful shot. That platinum eye (4th metal :) ) can be easily fixed in PS using the cloning tool.

Ol' Lanthanum eye (5th) can be adjusted in PS a bit, I bet.

Very cute little bird, one we don't see in the forums much. Thanks for sharing.

Andrew, what a little beauty you got there. Great colours.
All the above comments seem very fair! Well done though, pleasure to the eye
